In 2017 the company started working on the project “Development of Trans-European Network Road E67 (Via Baltica). Development of Road Section from Lithuanian-Latvian Border to Panevėžys. Contract No. 1”. Project encompasses the first stage of A17 Panevėžys bypass reconstruction in the section 0.000-10.530, which begins at the two-level intersection at Šilagalys village, where main road A2 Vilnius-Panevėžys meets main road A8 Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai (Via Baltica), and ends at Nausodė intersection, where A17 Panevėžys bypass crosses the main road A9 Panevėžys–Šiauliai.

The bypass will be widened from two to three lanes, creating a 2+1 road layout scheme, when the traffic in the additional middle lane changes direction every few kilometres. That way the faster moving vehicles can safely overtake the slower ones, which is extremely important on the Via Baltica route, known for its growing number of heavy transiting vehicles and high collision rates.  Metal railings will separate opposing traffic in the new 2+1 road layout, along with other safety features.

The first stage of the project began in March 2017 and should be completed in the summer of 2018. The client is the LRA

In the spring of 2017 Panevėžio keliai AB began building a pedestrian viaduct over the Rail Baltica railway in Šeštokai village, located in Lazdijai district. Modern pedestrian viaduct will let the inhabitants safely cross the railway, which in this section is 8 tracks wide. The viaduct overlay is 46.66 metres long and 2.90 metres wide. The width allocated for pedestrians will reach 2.50 metres. The viaduct relies on cable-stayed construction, in which the steel cables are supplemented by virtual supports that lower the bending forces impacting the overlay.  Cables are installed on a pylon which is 26.90 metres high. It is made of two towers connected by reinforced concrete cross-beams.

One of the most important viaduct features is the vertical elevators installed on both ends of the viaduct, which will ease access for disabled pedestrians. The elevators will bring the pedestrians all the way up to the overlay, which sits 9.2 metres above the railway. Elevators of this type are more complicated and expensive than traditional ramps, but the former option takes up less space. It was impossible to build traditional ramps in the densely built Šeštokai railway station approaches. The estimated project end is August 2018. The client is Lazdijai District Municipality’s administration.
